Verster, Andrew

Andrew Verster

Andrew Verster was born in Johannesburg in 1937. He trained at the Camberwell School of Art and Reading University. Lectured at the University of Durban Westville and Natal Technikon. In 1976 he became a full- time artist. Andrew Verster won a competition in 1992 for the BBC World Service Playwriting.

In 2004, he designed the sets and costumes for Opera Africa’s Faust, Princess Magogo, and La Traviata and Rigoletto. He produced costumes for the Rocky Horror show in 2004, and Grease production in 2006.

In 2006 Andrew Verster was the costume designer for Bellini Romeo and Juliet at the state Theatre. Andrew Verster is regarded as one of the
